As new travel restrictions are coming into place every day and airlines are cancelling a large proportion of their flights, at Air Charter Service we’re seeing a spike in both private jet and air cargo charter requests.
As COVID-19 throws the world into uncertainty, our sector is no exception. The aircraft charter industry is stepping up in the short term to make up the shortfall in capacity, whether keeping supply chains running by flying cargo, or evacuating stranded passengers back home.
Passenger aircraft belly space makes up 60%-70% of all air cargo movements around the world and the mass cancellations of passenger flights has a knock-on effect to the logistics supply chains. We are seeing many companies turning to us to charter entire cargo aircraft for their shipments.
