The Civil Aviation (Mortgaging of Aircraft) Order 2026 came into effect on 1 October 2026, modernising the statutory framework and processes for the Isle of Man Register of Aircraft Mortgages.

Existing mortgages and priority notices registered under the previous legislation remain valid, and no re-registration is required solely because of the change. Mortgagee consent for deregistration is still required where an aircraft is subject to a registered mortgage. IDERA services are not affected.

Key updates include:

  • priority notices are now valid for 30 working days and may be extended up to 60 working days;
  • new applications for extending a priority notice, deregistering a mortgage, and cancelling an aircraft registration with mortgagee consent;
  • updated mortgage search results; and
  • clear process for the IOMAR to propose amendments to the Register, including rights of representation and appeal.
