London – 4th June 2021: London Biggin Hill Airport has appointed its first “Environment Champions”.

Following the signing of its sustainability statement in January 2020, the new champions will oversee environmentally conscious operations covering all aspects of the airport as part of its commitment to becoming fully carbon neutral by 2029.

Colin Hitchins, head of CSR and sustainability, London Biggin Hill Airport says: “Recognising the need for a more sustainable airport was the first step for London Biggin Hill. Today, with the appointment of our champions, we can now look at how we implement change in every area and reach our goal of being carbon neutral.

“The roles of our champions will be to help steer us towards our targets of reducing waste, increasing recycling, as well as encouraging airport-wide involvement in local environmental initiatives throughout their respective department.”
