This summer, Rushmoor Borough Council will showcase our unique military heritage to the nation as we host the Armed Forces Day National Event on 27-28 June. We will celebrate the whole of the armed forces community, serving tri-service personnel and their families, along with veterans and cadets as well as the industries which support the armed forces, many of which have a footprint in the borough.
Events will be staged on the historic Queens’ Parade in Aldershot, the traditional home of the British Army, and we will also celebrate the unique history of Farnborough as the home of military aviation. We will invite local schools to the event site on Friday 26 June to meet the armed forces first opportunity hand, to see providing the an latest developments in military equipment and to talk to service personal in the Military Village. They will also visit the Industry Village to learn about technology, future developments, as well as STEM career opportunities. Our national event will begin with a parade and review of the troops by senior VIPs, providing a focus for the public to show their support for the armed forces. Thousands of people will join the celebrations within the event site, meeting members of the armed forces and industry partners, witnessing spectacular arena displays and fly pasts. On Sunday 28 June, the site will play host to community groups from across the borough, celebrating diverse cultures and communities through music, sport and food.
