1. Enhancement to our Services

Rectification Interval Extension (RIE) Programmes – the Registry is pleased to announce this new service to provide operational flexibility.

The approval of a RIE programme allows an operator in exceptional circumstances to permit a one-time extension to a Category B, C, or D, item by 100% (this is also known as Continuing Authorization – Single Extension).

Operators who obtain approval to issue RIEs, are able to self-extend any Category B, C and D defect in the MEL to 100% of its original rectification period, instead of having to apply for a permission from IOMAR.

2. ICAO Compliance

Amendment 40 to the ICAO SARPs for Annex 6 Part II, Operation of Aircraft – International General Aviation for Aeroplanes was adopted by the Council and took effect on 3rd November 2022.

IOMAR is pleased to announce that the required changes have been incorporated into our Registry Publications (RP) to maintain our ICAO compliance and became effective immediately (15th December 2022).

The recent changes introduced with Amendment 40 have been incorporated into RP4 – Guidance to Operators and RP39 – All Weather Operations both available on our website. https://www.iomaircraftregistry.com/forms-documents/library/

3. Revised Registry Publications (RPs)

A full list of the changes are included in the Record of Revision in the RPs, however for ease, the following significant changes are highlighted for your convenience:

RP4

– Includes the requirement for the NATR to provide the CRS wording to certifying entities;

– Requirement for the Operator/FOR to liaise with the NATR to ensure the AMP is updated accordingly when applying for Operational Approvals;

– New chapter on AOM;

– Incorporation of a new ICAO requirement (introduced in Amendment 40) for a pre-flight route assessment;

– New chapter on Communicable Diseases;

– How to apply for RIEs;

– Enhancements to the guidance material for understanding the MEL concept and Flight Days vs Calendar Days;

– New chapter on Airport Specific Approvals (replacing Steep Approach Approvals);

RP39

– RP39 has undergone an extensive revision creating a new easy read format with the fresh new style;

– Requirement for the Operator/FOR to liaise with the NATR to ensure the AMP is updated accordingly when applying for AWOPS Approvals;

– Operational Credit – incorporation of a new ICAO requirement (introduced in Amendment 40) for operators to conduct an Operator Safety Risk Assessment prior to submitting the application and conduct compliance monitoring for approaches conducted using Operational Credit;

Note: all operators who currently have Operational Credit Approval will be contacted by the Registry to advise what changes they need to make in order to facilitate a smooth renewal.

Operating Standards and Procedures Manual (OSPM) for AWOPS

The OSPMs have all been significantly updated to reflect the changes to RP39

– RP37 CAT II & LVTO OSPM;

– RP37a CAT IIIA & LVTO OSPM;

– RP37b CAT IIIB & LVTO OSPM;

– RP37c Compliance Monitoring Form and Spreadsheet; and

– RP54 LVTO OSPM.

Operators who hold an AWOPS Approval and use one of the Registry Produced OSPMs, are kindly reminded that prior to submitting the Form 4a renewal form, they must check the publication on the Library Page to ensure they have the latest version of the OSPM. 

When submitting the Form 4a to renew an AWOPS approval, please ensure you read RP39 Chapter 1.3 carefully to ensure you submit the required supporting documentation to avoid delaying the renewal process.
