Dear Colleagues,

We are distributing this message on behalf of the Department for Transport, Welsh Government, Scottish Government and Northern Ireland Executive.

We would like to highlight to airlines that the enhanced GAD process remains in place and GADs are required for all international flights, including nil returns. The process is outlined in section 2.3 (page 8), with a supporting flow chart at Annex C (page 24). DfT and PHE continue to monitor compliance with the enhanced GAD process, which is reported to Ministers on a weekly basis.

With numbers of flights increasing, we request that carriers continue to check and remind passengers to complete their Passenger Locator Form ahead of entering the UK. This is critical to support passenger compliance with UK requirements and minimise disruption at the border, in particular while social distancing is required for passenger and staff safety. Please be reminded that the Passenger Locator Form is only available online (https://www.gov.uk/uk-border-control) and therefore no paper forms should be issued to passengers.

Government coronavirus resources have been updated to reflect the introduction of Travel Corridors. These can be found on the PHE coronavirus resources campaign website. These can also be downloaded via this link(https://extranet.dft.gov.uk/safer-transport-campaign/guidance-for-travelling-abroad/#information), along with:

  • A downloadable Q&A Word document covering some of the key information on these travel exemptions
  • Graphics providing further information for people travelling abroad this summer, to use in consumer facing social media
