Plundering the archives today, I revisited a video I nearly deleted — a reel of bloopers from a shoot where I hadn’t planned properly.
I’d hoped to “wing it” — but what I got was a chaotic mess of false starts, half-finished thoughts, and me looking frustrated. The kind of footage most people would ditch.
Instead, I turned it into a teaching moment.
Why? Because it reminded me of something I tell my clients all the time:
- Prioritise planning
- And nothing is ever truly wasted if you know how to repurpose it.
In this case, my blooper reel became a demonstration of why planning makes all the difference in video content.
There are those who can do wonderful one take walkhroughs and it’s an amazing skill to have – or to cultivate. I bow before them.
But a bit like when I pretend to myself that of course I’ll spend some time decluttering THAT cupboard this weekend…off the cuff video with zero planning ahead always takes me three x the time I think it will.
However, having invested the time – and – here’s another thing I tell my clients – don’t overthink this
Remember your audience.
For a solo preneur or personal brand, sometimes those unpolished moments can be humanising, relatable, even valuable
In the case of very corporate brands, not planning properly is a time drain. Especially in corporate, B2B, or investor-facing comms, clarity can matter more than vulnerability.

And if visibility — the real kind that builds trust and traction — is something you’re working on right now,

PS LinkedIn has been the go to platform for B2B marketers for some time. Trust me, this year it will be THE place to be and organic content will really fly- so ensure you’re visible there. Think Facebook 5 years ago.
