Students take to the runway at London Biggin Hill Airport’s ninth Futures Week, gaining hands-on experience and insight into the breadth of careers within the aviation industry.

Designed to inspire and support young people considering careers in aviation, initiatives such as Futures Week play an important role in strengthening the future workforce.

Throughout the week, fifteen students aged 15-18 went behind the scenes to explore aircraft maintenance, air traffic control, fire and rescue operations and engineering, working alongside professionals from the airport’s on-site business community – home to more than 70 resident aviation companies.

Since launching in 2022, Futures Week has supported more than 130 students in exploring aviation career pathways, with alumni progressing into apprenticeships, further education and industry roles with organisations including Bombardier, British Airways, Castle Air Aviation Group and the Royal Air Force.
