Leading Edge are delighted to announce that after a busy 2020, they have received Approval from the UK Civil Aviation Authority for their new Airbus A320 Simulator as an FTD-1 and FNPT II/ MCC approved device. In addition, CAA approval has now been received for both the APS MCC and MultiCrew Cooperation Instructor (MCCI) courses, allowing LEAL to deliver APS MCC (Airline Pilot Standards Multi Crew Cooperation) training on the device. Students who are completing training with Leading Edge will complete the APS MCC on this simulator, which is hosted in their newly
acquired, 9000 square feet, dedicated simulator facility, Hangar 18.
Leading Edge’s Chief Operations Officer, Dave Alexander, who headed up the simulator implementation project commented, “We were delighted to receive approval from the CAA, this is the culmination of many months hard work by our experienced team who efficiently managed the
planning, delivery, implementation and testing of the simulator, and receiving certification for this simulator will allow us to continue our expansion, whilst still offering training at the Leading Edge of
the industry.”

This approval will allow the first group of Leading Edge students to complete their APS MCC in the new simulator before the end of 2020. Leading Edge have reimagined the conventional APS MCC Course, with a team of current Airbus A320 line pilots (both experienced Captains and First Officers).

The course has been created from the ground up with every aspect of the course content and delivery being redesigned. The course delivers a strong focus on providing training that puts their graduates at the forefront of the industry. Leading Edge’s aim is to equip their graduates with the practical multi-crew cooperation skills they need in addition to being highly competent pilots.

The expansion of the flight training offering follows a number of announcements in 2020 that include, approval of their Advanced UPRT Training, the expansion of both the fleet and the academy facilities and the first female majority course (announced in September). Leading Edge have a young, state of the art Diamond fleet compiled of single engine DA40s and Multi-Engine DA42s. The fleet is constantly growing and currently stands at 14 aircraft with more on the way. Further evidence of their growth and success in all areas of the business. But this is not all, look out for further news over the next couple of months.
