An exciting new chapter has started for the UK Women in Aviation International Chapter. BBGA member Charlotte Wroe, CEO of Independent Travel Agency Charlotte Wroe Travel, has stepped up to the plate, as President. She said: “I’m delighted to be the new President of WAI UK Chapter and I’m excited about bringing some new energy to the chapter. I want to encourage more women to join this amazing industry and to discover the many different aspects to it. I also want to offer support and guidance to the existing members and to build a strong community for us all. I’m really looking forward to working closely alongside Tessa and our committee.”
Along with incoming Vice President, B787 Captain Tessa Naran, Charlotte has several exciting initiatives up her sleeve, including a spectacular debut event, which will be revealed later this spring.
Former air cadet and serial entrepreneur Charlotte is involved in several businesses and brings a sterling 12-year background in business aviation to her new role. She worked in aircraft sales at Oriens Aviation, the UK Pilatus Sales and Maintenance Centre and helped grow the business from just three sales experts to taking over an entire maintenance facility with over 14 employees. She assisted with the takeover, HR, facilities management, managed client relationships as well as marketing and events.
WIA UK will benefit from her vast experience in organising and planning events, from
creating a stand at shows like NBAA, EBACE and Goodwood Festival of Speed, to planning and organising Ireland’s first Business Aviation event from scratch. This went on to run for two consecutive years at Shannon Airport, attracting over 100 delegates.
Her previous experience also includes a stint as the International Marketing Executive for Shannon Development, an Irish Government agency that supported Shannon Airport.
Shannon Free Zone companies actively contributed over €600 million to the Irish and Shannon Region economy annually in terms of direct expenditure. The key role of this position was to identify and develop international marketing efforts in foreign countries to promote the Shannon Free Zone as an ideal business investment location.
In 2010, Shannon became the first airport in the world to offer Full US Preclearance for business jets, which she promoted internationally working alongside the Irish Prime Minister and the Irish Transport Minister. She was also part of a committee put together by the Irish Aviation Authority and the College of Ireland to work on creating the first Aviation college at Shannon Airport.
Charlotte and Tess succeed the outgoing WIA UK Chapter leadership team BBGA members GearUp TV’s Liz Moscrop and Emerald Media’s Alison Chambers.
