This year marks 20 years since I became a professional aviation storyteller. My first official paid assignment was at EBACE 2005 with FlightGlobal ✈️
Ever ahead of the curve, I reported virtually and ultimately my first on site appearanceas an aviation specialist journalist came later that year at the ParisAirShow 🇫🇷
To celebrate, I’m sharing my very first aviation video—an interview I did with Russ Niles of AVweb.com in 2008 wearing red (some things never change 🔴).
I was reporting on the baby Cirrus VisionJet before it had a name, and even then we were talking about staff shortages.
🎥 If you’ve ever worried about saying the wrong thing on camera—or want to know how professionals dodge a question—watch around 40 seconds in. I neatly sidestep a question Russ asked about an engine I wasn’t fully briefed on.
The industry has evolved, and if you watched it – the credit crunch DID ultimately impact orders, but my passion for telling the stories of aviation and the people behind it remains as strong as ever and I’ll be back in Geneva next week.
20 years on, it’s fair to say I know what I’m doing 🙂
We’re booked out for EBACE, however, if you want your brand to stand out at the Paris Air Show, I’m taking on a handful of client projects for video storytelling and content strategy.
