GENEVA / May 26, 2024 ¾ Jet Aviation announced today that it has launched its first in-house innovation test and display room in Basel. The space is built to represent part of a narrow-body fuselage and allows customers to experience some of the latest cabin innovations and technological advancements at Jet Aviation, including acoustic treatments.
Designed as a showroom and experimental space for the latest cabin innovations, the Innovation Space at Jet Aviation Basel enables customers to experience variable sound intensities to simulate cabin noise levels and better understand the effects of different acoustic levels in flight. It also features an in-flight-entertainment room where the team can test and personalize different configurations for a customer before installing them on an aircraft, and allows the team to showcase new innovative materials and concepts.
“Creating this experimental space in-house allows us to continue to explore new technologies and enhance our offerings as we strive to create beautifully bespoke interior cabin experiences for our customers,” says Christoph Fondalinski, vice president Completions. “As our customers experience more and more new and exciting technology in other aspects of their lives, they increasingly expect the same level of comfort and enjoyment from their aircraft. We recognize the need for a strong focus on innovation in VVIP completions to remain relevant in a rapidly evolving world. The Innovation Space is a fantastic step on our journey towards providing this in the ultimate cabin experience.”
For over ten years, Jet Aviation has dedicated a significant part of its research and development efforts on optimizing sound and weight in VVIP interiors. In 2022 the company redelivered its quietest and lightest narrow-body to date.
“Our experience was that unless you have flown in an incredibly quiet aircraft, it can be challenging to understand the benefits of subtle differences in sound levels,” explains Florent Klinger, head of engineering. “In order to provide our customers with that understanding and help them make the right decisions for their aircraft, we created a dedicated space where they can experience different acoustic levels, in addition to new products, systems, and innovative components.”
Jet Aviation is a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) with some 4,000 employees and 50 locations worldwide. Jet Aviation’s offerings include aircraft management, aircraft sales, charter, completions, defense, FBO, maintenance and staffing.
