Joan Sullivan Garrett, founder of MedAire, will be inducted into the International Air & Space Hall of Fame for her contribution to medical care and safety solutions for the aviation industry.

The International Air & Space Hall of Fame is the most prestigious induction of its kind. Since 1963, the museum’s International Air & Space Hall of Fame has honored the planet’s most significant pilots, crew members, visionaries, inventors, aerospace engineers, business leaders, preservationists, designers and space explorers.

Garrett’s founding of MedAire – now the leading global provider of 24/7 integrated safety solutions for aviation and maritime where remote medical care is in high demand – and her congressional testimony in 2001 that led to the FAA’s final ruling requiring US airlines to carry AEDs on all flights, domestic and international, were cited by the San Diego Air & Space Museum about her induction to the Hall of Fame.

Today, MedAire products and services are on board more than 3700 business and general aviation aircraft, and are standard on new aircraft from the world’s top business jet manufacturers.

In addition to medical services, MedAire offers a suite of aviation security solutions to help flight departments mitigate risks to their people, their aircraft and their operations.

The San Diego Air & Space Museum will celebrate the International Air & Space Hall of Fame Class of 2019 on Saturday, Nov. 23, in the Edwin D. McKellar Pavilion of Flight at the San Diego Air & Space Museum.

Jim Kidrick, president & CEO of the San Diego Air & Space Museum, said, “We’re especially pleased to honor this exemplary Class of 2019 because these men and women are amongst the most talented figures in air and space history.”

In 2017, Garrett was awarded business aviation’s most distinguished honor, the NBAA Meritorious Service to Aviation Award, which recognizes extraordinary lifelong professional contributions to aviation.
