because it’s a perfect example of strategic storytelling in action.
On the surface, it gives essential information. But the real work it’s doing? Building long-term authority and trust as part of an ongoing narrative arc. It demonstrates relationship, expertise, and consistency. It’s just one piece of a system that keeps you front and centre with the people who matter.
What makes something like this actually work comes down to two things I learned in my former career with over 20+ years as a business aviation journalist:
Technical skill – creating a relaxed space, asking the right questions, drawing out genuine insight.
Industry awareness – deeply understanding how the industry works, which elevates a simple interview into a conversation between established, trusted practitioners.
The result speaks for itself. We both come across as engaged experts, the audience gets value, and we’re building something that compounds over time.
I’ll be at CJI next week, filming my take on what’s going on as part of my continuing industry narrative, which you can find in BlueSky Aviation News every week, as well as my social media channels.
CJI is still my favourite event for the quality of networking and learning, and the best way to kick off the year for our community.
If you’re going and fancy catching up, just reply to this. Always happy for a proper conversation.
Looking forward to seeing you there.

PS If you’re interested in replicating this kind of visibility at your own level, institutional or founder-led, the starting point isn’t filming. It’s clarifying what needs to be said, what should remain unsaid, and how authority is best signalled in your world.
That’s where the real leverage is. Reply to this email if you’d like to discuss.
